Also all the little details, the shoes in the hallway, falling asleep on the couch, staring into the fridge saying there’s nothing to eat, made this feel so alive and real.

Awe, Monica, I am so happy to read this...and yes a little tear wants to come out. This is my first Mother's day without both of my adult children, since the Army won't allow that leave, and instead of being sad he isn't going to be here, I am proud of him, and my heart is reminded of that joy from the years of sacrifice you mentioned-- it is precious and so worth it.
Greta, isn’t it amazing how proud we are of them as they become amazing adults. My middle son hasn’t been here for Mother’s Day for a couple years so this is going to be an extra special weekend.
